John Berkey
John was called the most innovative and influential futurist painter of his time!
He loved Excelsior and enjoyed living here, seldom traveling far from home.
In 2004 John Berkey was inducted into The Illustrators Hall of Fame. John’s art has appears on book and magazine covers, in ads, on movie posters such as King Kong, Star Wars, and Towering Inferno. You can find his art on US postage stamps, and most memorable, the Santa Claus Christmas Stamp of 1983 and again in 1991. He painted beautiful women of ages, cars….classic and innovative, disaster scenes, landscapes, seascapes, sporting events, festivals, and so much more. With his ability to see things from a. different perspective, John’s illustrations depicted the full spectrum of life-past, present and future. This quiet contemplative genius will not be forgotten.
